YOUTH SUMMER CAMP IN COMMUNITY CENTER OF PALILULA

Group for Children and Young people "Indigo" in Nis, in cooperation with the Association Terra del Fuoco in Turin (Italy) with the support of the Reconstruction Women's Fund from Belgrade, organized from 1st to 6th August 2014, the summer camp "Step in - Step out " with 35 participants from Serbia-Nis and Italy. The camp was opened on 1 August and held in a "community center" in Dusan Popovic bb street, Palilula. According to Tamara Simonovic, director of the organization "Indigo", which is the organizer and host of this activity, the goal of the camp is to contribute to greater social inclusion and active participation of women, especially Roma women in the creation and organization of international projects and exchanges. All programs are open to the public.

The first activity summer camp started on Saturday, 02 August with a tour of the memorial complex Camp` Red Cross`, Roma cemetery and places Roma special place - Zajdebača. In the evening hours, representatives of the Italian organization Terra del Fuoco gave a presentation of their "Train of Remembrance", active for 10 years in Italy and in preserving the memory of the victims of the Holocaust and the promotion of anti-fascism among young people.
With all these events, group for children and young people "Indigo" and Terra del Fuoco joined the European initiative to declare August 2nd International Day for the Remembrance of the Roma and Roma women - victims of the Holocaust (www.2august.eu).

From the 3rd to the 5th of August, in the "community center" (settlement Crvena Zvezda) will be held workshops of dance and music, a group of young people from Serbia and Italy will be working on landscaping and environment of Social Center. The plan is planting seedlings, reconstruction of furniture for kids, waste removal. Presentation of the results of music and dance workshops will be held on Tuesday, August 5 at 20:00 pm in the courtyard of Civic Center. The participants of this international activity will perform a performance from the workshops of summer camp.
